Two ad layers

|---|---|---|
| App-inserted ads | None | None — Premium does not change this |

First-party checks for the free-no-ads claim — not a SERP-copied bullet list.
| Check | In-app path | Named outcome |
|---|---|---|
| No app-inserted ads | Listen on free core | We do not insert our own ads into playback; host-read mid-rolls may still play |
| Smart Ad-Skip | Play a supported episode with known ad segments; one-tap skip (can disable) | Jumps past ad breaks on supported podcasts — not automatic removal of every publisher ad |
| Offline without Premium | Download on Wi‑Fi | Unlimited offline downloads on free — Premium is Podcast Brain, not a download unlock |
| OPML without account | Settings → Manage Subscriptions → Import Subscriptions | Public RSS subscriptions land signed-out; no Premium gate |

Two claims, two layers of ads, one guard we measured. All of it from the app we ship.
| What we checked | What we found | Check it yourself |
|---|---|---|
| What free covers | Subscribe, queue, stream, download, OPML import and export, speed, sleep timer, chapters — with no account. | Skip sign-in on first run; everything in this row still works. |
| Unlimited downloads, literally | The last free-tier download cap code was deleted on August 22, 2026, so no screen can show a limit the app does not enforce. The remaining bounds are your storage and your own auto-download setting. | Downloads screen: no counter, no upsell. |
| Ad layer one — ours | None. No ad SDK in the app since March 9, 2026; the iOS release build fails if one reappears. | No tracking prompt, no banner slot. |
| Ad layer two — the publisher’s | Host reads and dynamically inserted ads inside the episode file still play. We play the RSS audio as published. | Listen to a sponsored show. |
| Smart Ad-Skip on supported shows | A skip-forward tap inside a mapped ad jumps the break. The app refuses to ad-skip when the file you received differs from the mapped copy by more than 10 s: in our September 2026 probe, 5 of 12 production episodes had been re-stitched by dynamic insertion, off by 59 s to 342 s. Guessing would have seeked into the interview. | Tap skip inside a mid-roll; an ordinary skip means the guard fired. Settings → Skip ads turns it off. |

Searchers asking for a free podcast app without player ads mean the player layer. We never insert ads in the app. Publisher and platform ads may still appear — Ad-Skip helps on supported shows. That is not a promise that every creator dropped sponsorships.
These are banners, feed units, between-episode promos, or pre-roll the player sells against your ears. The Podcast App does not insert them. The player and the no app-inserted ads player page use the same boundary.
Host-read mid-rolls, dynamic insertion in the publisher’s file, and in-show promo reads are part of the episode. Creators use them to keep shows free. We play the file as published.
If the ad plays even in a different app, it is in the file. If it only appears in one player’s chrome or between shows, that player is selling inventory.
The core free podcast app is the listening product. Subscribe, queue, stream, unlimited offline, and OPML import do not require Premium or an account.
Listen on one device with no account. Cloud sync needs a sign-in later if you want it across devices. Premium is Brain, optional — it does not unlock the player.
Podcast Brain is optional. It is transcript-backed search, summaries, and chat. It is not how we “unlock” a player without app-inserted ads. The player already has none. Premium does not unlock subscribe, queue, stream, unlimited offline, or OPML import.

If you are leaving a player that stacked its own ads on top of host reads, import the library, then prune shows you only followed because a home screen pushed them.
Grab the file from Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts, Overcast, or AntennaPod. Spotify has no first-party OPML export of shows.
Open Settings → Manage Subscriptions → Import Subscriptions. The switch guide is the full path. Premium is not required.
Verify niche feeds, then download commute episodes on Wi-Fi. Unlimited offline downloads are on the free app.
Install, subscribe or import, then press play. The queue, sleep timer, and playback speed are in the free core. There is no pre-roll bumper we sold, no between-show house ad, and no banner over the episode list. If a mid-roll starts, it is because the publisher put it in the file — the same clip would play in another RSS client.
Some players sell a clip after one episode ends and before the next begins. That is app insertion. We do not run that slot.
Smart Ad-Skip: one tap jumps past ads on supported podcasts. It exists on iOS and Android when ad segments are known for that episode — supported podcasts, not all. It is one tap past breaks, not automatic mute or removal of every publisher ad. Publisher and platform ads may still appear. You can turn it off.
The listening chrome stays on playback. We do not wallpaper the library with display units. That is the product, not a trial countdown.
Two ad layers. The free core does not insert banner ads, feed ads, or its own ad audio. Creator mid-rolls, host-read sponsorships, and promo reads already in the episode file may remain. Those are the show’s ads, not the app’s.
No. No app-inserted ads is not a claim that podcasts themselves contain zero host reads. Shows commonly keep themselves free with sponsorships inside the MP3 or M4A. The Podcast App does not strip those.
Subscribe, queue, stream, unlimited offline downloads, and OPML import are free. No account is required to start. Premium is Podcast Brain — optional AI. It does not unlock the player.
Yes. Unlimited offline downloads are available on the free app. Premium is not required to download episodes for offline listening.
Yes. OPML import is free and does not require Premium or an account. Export from Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts, Overcast, or AntennaPod, then import under Settings → Manage Subscriptions → Import Subscriptions. The switch guide has the steps.
