Some put a credit-card wall in front of the first play. The Podcast App’s install contract is narrower and more boring: the player works, files stay on the device, OPML moves a library, and nobody asks for an account to start.
Day one should be dull. Install. Search or drop a subscription list. Follow a feed. Queue tonight’s episode. Set a sleep timer. Nudge playback speed. Flip airplane mode and the saved audio still plays. Lock the phone; background playback continues. None of that asks for Premium, a card, or a Brain session.
